Special Olympics Shanghai Statistics
The Special Olympics in Shanghai are well on their way now and the first medal has been won on the marathon.
Some Special Olympics Stats:

- Number of participating athletes - 7,500
- Seating capacity of Shanghai Stadium - 80,000
- Founding year of the Special Olympics - 1985 (see more for the history here
- Percentage of the world’s people with intellectual disabilities - 1.4
- Percentage of people with intellectual disabilities that are Special Olympics athletes
The Special Olympics run until the 11th of October so if you are in Shanghai you’ll still have a chance to cheer the athletes.
