Shanghai China Snippets Observations about living in Shanghai and China in general

The Special Olympics in Shanghai are well on their way now and the first medal has been won on the marathon.

Some Special Olympics Stats:

• Number of sports – 25 (see which ones here)
• Number of participating athletes – 7,500
• Seating capacity of Shanghai Stadium – 80,000
• Founding year of the Special Olympics – 1985 (see more for the history here
• Percentage of the world’s people with intellectual disabilities – 1.4
• Percentage of people with intellectual disabilities that are Special Olympics athletes

The Special Olympics run until the 11th of October so if you are in Shanghai you’ll still have a chance to cheer the athletes.
