Osteria Italian Restaurant - Less guests is better

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Clicking an ad I ended up at the website of the Osteria restaurant
I’m a bit puzzled by the fact that if I bring 7 or more friends I’ll be charged 10% more.

Still, I may try out the place one day, just with a small group though.
It seems from the pictures like an […]

Element Fresh Dots And Staff Toilets

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

The place is close, Nanjing Lu, the coffee is getting more expensive every time (regular Yunnan brew from 12 Rmb to 16 Rmb) but the terrace makes up for that.
There’s just one thing that keeps amazing me, and this is based on 4 years of research.
Every time I go to the bathroom it’s […]

Neo Restaurant Cafe Shanghai

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Wandering on Weihai Lu we ran into the neon lights of Neo Cafe.

Drinks
We only had some drinks. Prices are good actually. A Corona for 25 Rmb and a small Tsingtao for the same money. A strawberry slushy was 32 Rmb.
Service
Average. The waitress apparently wasn’t overjoyed with my request for some ice water which she […]

Citizen Cafe Shanghai

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Chances are you have never walked past the lovely Citizen Cafe as it’s tucked away in a small side street of Shanxi Lu, just before Changle Lu.
Neither did I but as I read about it in one of the local expat magazines it seemed like a nice place to try.
Food
I have been there […]

Coconut Paradise Thai Restaurant Shanghai

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

The Thai food is ok, not very special but not bad either. The location is great. Prices are more based on the environment than on what the food should actually cost.

Maneo Restaurant Shanghai Brunch

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Brunching is one of my favorite activities on late Sunday morning. Last time we tried a Spanish brunch at Indalo, now we went to more of a Fusion brunch at Maneo’s on Tongren Lu.
Food
Instead of a buffet Maneo offers a big menu and you can choose as much and as many times you like. […]

Pasti Italian Restaurant Shanghai

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

A couple of years ago already I went to Pasti on their old location. This spot is now occupied by Napoli while Pasti moved to a old villa only footsteps away. A lot more space and the food even better. I have been a couple of times now and even ordered in using their […]

How to .. Open a restaurant in Shanghai

Monday, August 13th, 2007

I was cleaning up old magazines and ran into an issue of SH Magazine. On the last page of each issue there is small column called, “How to”.
Sometimes this column is slightly useful, many times it’s cynical. The one I read was funny for the last reason.
How to .. Open a restaurant in […]

Indalo Spanish Restaurant Shanghai

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

It was Sunday and we were in the mood for some brunch. Instead of going to one of the hotel buffets that can be quite good value for money, we wanted something else. Flipping through the free expat magazines I noticed Indalo. A Spanish brunch that starts at 14:00 ‘o clock. It fitted perfectly […]
